Dear Nichols Canyon Neighbors,
My name is Susan Mullins and I am chair of our Upper Nichols Canyon Neighborhood Association.
Without a doubt, Nichols Canyon is a very special place to live--that niche of "country" curving up above a diverse urban environment. The deer, red-tail hawks, coyotes and bobcats living side-by-side us are proof that we've chosen an extraordinary place to call "home".
We've discovered there are also wonderful folks living in Nichols Canyon.
The Upper Nichols Canyon Neighborhood Association grew from a living room meeting in July 2007 of 25 concerned residents into a current roster of more than 450 neighbors.
Quality of life is our key mission. Our goal is to be the kind of old-fashioned community that is responsive to the concerns of our diverse neighborhood, encourages connection through social and community activity, and is proactive about the safety of our families, pets and environment.
Through our Block Captains we stay in touch with neighbors across the Canyon. Our email communication system and an effective website enable us to "talk to" and share vital information with residents. Please spend a little time exploring our website and see all the news and great information available about the Neighborhood and the City services.
Thanks to our Neighborhood Watch efforts and a great relationship with the LAPD, we are the safest Hollywood Hills community. Through our Emergency Preparedness efforts, we have certified over 10% of the neighbors in CPR and have on-going programs to prepare ourselves and our neighborhood in case of fire and earthquake emergencies.
Our annual Street Party, community service projects, fun special-interest gatherings, playgroups and other activities bring together long-time residents and newcomers, families with kids, and just neighbors down the street.
We hope you will be a part of our Neighborhood Association in whatever way you want. Our connection to each other is our strength, our safety net and it's fun! We look forward to meeting you!
